The demand
for the affordable homes is not affected by the global slump which is being
faced by the realty market. The demand for the affordable housing- for 1,2,3,
BHK apartments in the range of Rs. 35
lakhs continue to increase with time and is unaffected by the economic crisis. As
a initiative to make most of this demand the builders in Ahmedabad are offering
whopping 20% discount on such houses and are offering high commissions to
brokers to get bulk booking for the affordable homes.
The global
slump has helped the buyers are lot rather than the sellers but the demand has
been experienced to be highest in the affordable houses segment, i.e. in houses
admeasuring 1000 to 2000 square feet. According to Mr. Suresh Patel, former
president of Gujarat Institute of Housing Estate Developers (GIHED) the buyers
of the bigger flats are generally those who makes the purchase as an investment
option or who are upgrading them.
He further
added that the demand of the affordable houses segment is relatively genuine as
the buyer tends to live in those houses. Hence the impact of the global
slowdown on this segment is negligible, quality product which are priced
reasonably always are in demand.
