The company has already announced its plan to expand the presence of the company in India and also a non exclusive development agreement to launch the iconic Howard Johnson brand in India with about 3000 rooms across 35 new properties in the country by 2017. The company has entered into a contract with Unique Mercantile India Pvt. Ltd. which is a large real estate firm in India having investments in Gujarat and Hyderabad.

This agreement also includes the real estate development of a new 120 room Ramada resort in Udaipur which inter alia will feature a swimming pool, a game room, a poolside bar and international cuisine. The hotels’ first 72 rooms are set to open in April 2012 and the rest by December 2014.

Mr. Eric Danziger, President and CEO at Wyndham Hotel Group is of the opinion that due to the rise in tourism in the country, there is a full opportunity of growth here.

The planned expansion of the group in India follows a recent opening of a luxurious hotel in agra consisting of 154 room under the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts flag. It is just five minutes drive from one of Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal.
