NAREDCOs 10th national convention focuses on affordable housing

A two day national convention along with a realty exhibition is being organized by National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) which is the apex body for real estate and housing sectors under the aegis of Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India. This will be NAREDCOs 10th national convention which will focus on urban India’s housing requirement on the sidelines of “Housing for All” call of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The convention is scheduled to be held on January 8th and 9th, 2011 at The Ashok, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. Along with the convention NAREDCO is also organizing a realty exhibition. Leading real estate developers of the country will participate in the exhibition. The highlight of the exhibition will be low-cost as well as premium housing options that will be offered to first time home buyers.

Mr. Rohtas Goel, President of NAREDCO said that the urban population which stood at 285.3 million in 2001 has grown up to more than 360 million and this has resulted in housing shortage that has been estimated at 26.53 million units as per the 11th Plan, 2007-12. By 2015 the urban population is expected to touch the 410 million mark. Therefore there is an urgent need to counter this forthcoming housing and infrastructure shortage. Mr. Goel said that this convention will focus on factors that can go a long way in fulfilling the housing needs of people.
