Career as An Agent/Broker in Real Estate Industry

If you are wondering about a career in real estate India offers vast opportunities in metros and in tier 1 and 2 towns. Despite the slowdown, there is a steady market. The setback only means you will have to work hard to sell properties. Rentals may prove more profitable since there will always be a floating people on transferable jobs looking to rent properties.  The field is wide open and there are tremendous opportunities. You would, however, need to have the smarts to be a slick real estate agent with a lot of convincing power.

Real estate agents usually work out an arrangement to receive a nominal commission either from the seller or the buyer or both. You may consider brokering sales and purshes of new houses and commercial spaces, factory buildings and godowns, old buildings, land and rentals. A lot of initial hard work is needed to establish connections with builders for new properties. In order to have a data bank of old and new houses and properties for sale you have to make efforts to acquire information, publicize your activities and get people to approach you to broker a sale or for rental of property. On the one hand you have to become well known so that people in your city approach you if they have a property to rent out or for sale. On the other hand, your name should be in the mass consciousness through publicity campaigns so that in case anyone wants to buy or rent out properties, they contact you to arrange a deal.  You may have to maintain a presence through advertisements in newspapers, hoardings and signboards or any other publicity. Another way is to launch your own property website. There are popular property sites India-centric where you can register and maintain a presence and tap a source of business. It is an uphill task to establish yourself, but when you do, the rewards are handsome.
