MUMBAI: The Mumbai Police is investigating about the role of 'real estate mafia,' along with 'oil mafia,'
Mumbai Police have divided teams to examine each direction of the case and have also taken control of Dey's documents and computer to discover what precisely he was working on. They have founded that the weaponry used for the attack are the type normally used by the Dawood Ibrahim's hit men.
One of the weapons used was a pistol. According to a police officer, in suburban Mumbai, questioning of diverse informers is on and a step forward that is expected soon. Dey had allegedly presented a name list of senior police officials who were involved with underworld happenings and a part of the real estate industry. Several schemes of slum rehabilitation, where land is worth of hundreds of crores was being redeveloped, are perceived as goldmines by the underworld. Some developers have supposedly created a nexus with local politicians, police and the underworld gang to throw out or for stressing slum inhabitants. Dey had informed this, as per the officer.
"The state government does not totally rule out giving over the murder case of J Dey to Central Bureau of Investigation, but first of all Mumbai Police must be provided sufficient time and the chance to look into this case," Chavan told the media on Tuesday.
